Senator Ned Nwoko has called on security agencies to prosecute individuals involved in staging kidnappings, describing the act as criminal and dangerous to society.

In a statement released on Thursday in Abuja, the lawmaker representing Delta North Senatorial District expressed concern over the rising trend of fake abductions, warning that such actions undermine public safety and waste critical security resources. He stressed that offenders must be brought to justice to deter others and reaffirm societal values.

Nwoko cited a recent incident involving a young man whose alleged kidnapping sparked public outrage, accompanied by a viral video showing him in a forest in Aniocha North. Acting swiftly, the senator mobilised police and local vigilantes for a rescue operation—only for investigations to uncover that the abduction had been faked.

Describing the incident as reckless and alien to Delta North’s values, Nwoko said such deceit causes unnecessary trauma to families and erodes public trust. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting security agencies, maintaining peace, and protecting lives across communities in Delta North.
