Lviv Ukraine, Former Speaker of Ukraine’s Parliament, Andriy Parubiy, has been shot dead in the western city of Lviv. He was 54.

Authorities confirmed that the veteran politician was killed on Saturday after sustaining fatal gunshot wounds. Police said he died instantly at the scene, while the attacker fled. The motive behind the killing remains unclear, and a manhunt is underway for the gunman.

President Volodymyr Zelensky described the killing as a “horrific murder” and assured the public that a thorough investigation would be conducted to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Parubiy served as Speaker of Parliament between 2016 and 2019 and was a key figure in Ukraine’s pro-European movements, playing a prominent role during the 2004 Orange Revolution and the 2014 Maidan Revolution.

Meanwhile, in the United States, a 50-year-old woman from Indiana, Nathalie Rose Jones, has been arrested for allegedly plotting to kidnap and assassinate former President Donald Trump.

According to U.S. federal prosecutors, Jones was taken into custody on August 16 in Washington, D.C., after investigators traced a series of violent threats she posted on Facebook and Instagram. In her posts, she vowed to kill Trump, claiming she sought vengeance for lives lost during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Officials said Jones admitted to making the threats during questioning but later recanted, saying she no longer intended to harm the former president. Authorities noted that she has a documented history of mental illness.

Both incidents have drawn widespread global attention, underscoring rising concerns about political violence and threats against leaders.
