Pretoria, August 31, 2025, Civil society movement NotInMyName International has announced plans to stage a protest outside the Prinshof School for the Blind in Pretoria on Monday, following allegations of sexual assault against a 14-year-old learner.

According to the organisation, the pupil reported to her father that she no longer feels safe at the school after allegedly being assaulted by one of her teachers.

In a statement, NotInMyName spokesperson, Themba Masango, strongly condemned the incident, describing it as an abuse of power and a failure of the school’s duty to protect its learners.

“Schools should be sanctuaries of safety, not spaces of fear,” Masango said. “We hold the management accountable for failing to safeguard this child. The fact that this matter came to light through a concerned parent, rather than the school’s own protective systems, is deeply troubling.”

The movement says its demonstration seeks to demand justice for the victim and to ensure stronger protection measures are implemented for vulnerable learners.
