The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly refuted claims circulating on social media and some online platforms that its leaders have been administering ritual oaths to party members.

In a statement issued on Friday, the party’s Director of Publicity, Olufemi Nuberu, described the allegations as “baseless, malicious, and libellous,” insisting that oath-taking of such nature is alien to the APC’s structure and practices in Ogun State.

“The APC categorically denies the existence of any ritual oath-taking event involving its members or leaders. The claims are entirely fabricated, aimed at inciting fear, misleading the public, and tarnishing the image of the party,” the statement read in part.

Nuberu accused unnamed political agents of deliberately spreading falsehoods to undermine the party’s growing popularity in the state. He stressed that the APC remains committed to operating strictly within the framework of the Nigerian Constitution, the Electoral Act, and the party’s own constitution.

“As a law-abiding political organisation, the APC condemns any activity that contradicts legal and ethical standards. Oath-taking, as recognised under the law, is strictly regulated by the Oaths Act and must be administered only by authorised persons for constitutional purposes,” he added.

The party urged the public to disregard what it described as irresponsible reporting, assuring members and supporters that its operations will continue to uphold democratic principles and transparency.
