Afrobeats superstar Davido has officially been admitted as a voting member of the Recording Academy, the body responsible for the GRAMMY Awards. His new role places him among global music professionals who will decide the outcome of the 2026 GRAMMY ceremony.

The announcement was confirmed in a video shared on the Academy’s Instagram page on Tuesday, featuring Davido alongside other newly-inducted members. The post highlighted the dedication behind creating music and emphasized why members’ participation in the voting process is crucial.

With this milestone, Davido—who bagged three GRAMMY nominations in 2024—will now have a voice in the Academy’s nomination and final-ballot processes. Reacting to the development, the Feel crooner described it as a “game-changer,” noting that voting gives artists the power to shape what is considered and recognized each year. He expressed pride in joining the Academy community and pledged to contribute actively.

His inclusion reflects the Recording Academy’s ongoing efforts to expand and diversify its membership, bringing in more African and international voices. The Academy further announced that voting for the 2026 GRAMMYs will begin on October 3.
