Former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, has joined millions around the world to celebrate the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child, with a heartfelt message of encouragement and solidarity to every Nigerian girl.

Speaking to Newsmen, Dr. Ogah praised the resilience, intelligence, and determination of the Nigerian girl child, describing them as “the true architects of a brighter and more equitable future.”

“On this International Day of the Girl Child, I salute every young girl who continues to rise above challenges and societal limitations,”

Dr. Ogah said. “You are the light of our homes, the strength of our communities, and the hope of our nation. We must continue to protect, educate, and empower you to reach your fullest potential.”

Dr. Ogah reaffirmed his long-standing commitment to youth and educational development, emphasizing that empowering girls is not just a moral duty but a strategic investment in Nigeria’s progress.

He also called on government agencies, civil society organizations, and community leaders to create policies and platforms that guarantee equal opportunities for girls in education, leadership, and technology.

“When we lift up our girls, we lift our entire nation,”

he added, urging everyone to champion gender equality in both word and action.

The International Day of the Girl Child, observed annually on October 11, focuses on promoting the rights, education, and well-being of girls around the world.
