The Oyo State Government on Monday announced plans to implement a new digital system for building and survey plan approvals across the state.

Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Williams Akin-Funmilayo, disclosed the initiative during a meeting with all zonal directors of town planning offices at the ministry’s conference room. A statement by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, said the move represents a major step forward in urban management and infrastructural regulation.

Akin-Funmilayo explained that the new digital system would eliminate the leakages and irregularities that plagued the previous manual process, ensuring that all approvals are transparent, traceable, and secure. “The new plan approval system is fully automated and equipped with security features, including bar codes to generate and validate every approved document,” he said.

He added that inefficiency and compromise within town planning operations would no longer be tolerated, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to modernization and delivering tangible results.

The commissioner called on task forces and enforcement units within the Physical Planning department to intensify monitoring and take action against developers or individuals violating planning regulations. He reaffirmed that the government is determined to protect lives and properties through strict adherence to approved construction standards.

Akin-Funmilayo also assured citizens that the digital system would allow building approval applications to be submitted and processed from anywhere in the world, saving time and eliminating the need for intermediaries. He urged property owners to fully comply with the new system to ensure efficiency and transparency.
