Presidency Confirms DSS–Military Joint Operation Led to Rescue of 38 Kwara Worshippers

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has announced that a joint operation involving the Department of State Services (DSS) and the military successfully secured the release of 38 abducted worshippers in Eruku, Kwara State. The victims were freed following coordinated security efforts initiated shortly after the incident.

According to Onanuga, security agencies maintained direct communication with the armed group responsible for the abduction as part of the strategy used to guarantee the safe return of the captives. He noted that the collaboration demonstrated the government’s commitment to rapid and effective responses to security breaches across the country.

He added that the operation showcased improved intelligence sharing and synergy among Nigeria’s security services, which played a major role in ensuring that no harm came to the rescued individuals. The authorities have since transported the victims for medical checks and debriefing.

The Presidency reiterated its dedication to strengthening national security, assuring citizens that ongoing reforms and enhanced operational coordination will continue to yield positive results in the fight against criminal activities.
