House Member Raises Alarm Over Stalled Investigation Into NFF’s $25m Grants

A member of the House of Representatives has criticised the delay in investigating the Nigerian Football Federation’s use of over $25 million received as grants from FIFA and the Confederation of African Football.

The lawmaker expressed concern that weeks after the House ordered a probe into the funds meant for football development, the committee assigned to the task has yet to submit its report.

The investigation was initiated following allegations that the grants, received over several years, were poorly managed and failed to translate into meaningful growth in Nigerian football.

The legislator questioned why the committee missed its deadline and urged the House to ensure accountability, stressing that Nigerians deserve clarity on how the funds were spent, especially amid the national team’s recent struggles.

He called on the National Assembly to treat the matter with urgency when plenary resumes, noting that transparency in sports administration is crucial for restoring public trust and improving football development in the country.
