A violent raid by suspected terrorists struck Kirchinga village in Madagali, Adamawa State—home of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri—resulting in the death of two forest guards and the abduction of a third.

The attackers, reportedly heavily armed, carried out the assault during the early hours of Tuesday, around 1:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. Residents say the gunmen specifically targeted the newly established Forest Guard unit before fleeing with one guard in captivity. Attempts by locals to alert security forces came too late to prevent the fatalities and abduction.

The slain guards have been identified as Njidda Maradi and Yuguda Abasaryu, while the missing colleague’s fate is still unknown. The attack has left the community shaken and underscores the ongoing security threats in northeastern Nigeria.

Authorities confirmed that an incident occurred but offered figures that differ from eyewitness accounts. This event is part of a larger pattern of armed assaults in Adamawa, where terrorist groups continue to exploit forested areas to launch attacks on communities.
