Abuja Tragedy: POS Operator Killed as Speeding Bus Allegedly Evades FRSC Officials

A Point of Sale (POS) operator has lost her life after being struck by a speeding commercial bus in the Berger area of Abuja.

Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred near a filling station when the bus, allegedly being chased by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), veered off course and hit the woman as she was crossing the road early in the morning.

The impact reportedly threw the victim to the other side of the road, while the bus driver and the pursuing vehicle continued driving without stopping. Passersby said the woman lay on the road for several minutes before police officers from the Utako Division arrived at the scene.

She was confirmed dead before help could be rendered, sparking anger and concern among residents who questioned the circumstances surrounding the chase.

Meanwhile, the FRSC in the Federal Capital Territory said it has launched an investigation into the incident to determine whether its officials were involved. The Corps urged the public to avoid speculation, assuring that findings from the investigation would be made public.
