FG, States, and LGs Share Nearly ₦2 Trillion Federation Revenue for December 2025

Nigeria’s Federal Government, state governments, and local councils have received a combined ₦1.969 trillion from federation account proceeds for December 2025, according to the latest allocation figures released after the January meeting of the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC).

The total distributable revenue made available to the three tiers was made up of ₦1.084 trillion from statutory revenue, ₦846.507 billion from Value Added Tax (VAT), and ₦38.110 billion from the Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL).

From this pool, the Federal Government received ₦653.500 billion, states were allocated ₦706.469 billion, and local government councils got ₦513.272 billion. An additional ₦96.083 billion representing 13 per cent of mineral revenue was distributed to benefiting states as derivation revenue.

The FAAC report also showed shifts in revenue components: while import duties and VAT collections rose, some other revenue streams, such as excise duty and petroleum profit taxes, recorded declines during the month.
