Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly decided not to take part in Al‑Nassr’s next Saudi Pro League fixture against Al Riyadh, not because of injury or fitness concerns, but as a stand‑alone protest over the way the club is being run.
Ronaldo is fully fit and ready to play, but feels strongly that Al‑Nassr — which is controlled by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) — has been under‑invested compared to rival teams in the league.
The 40‑year‑old star is understood to be frustrated with the lack of substantial new signings this winter transfer window, believing that Al‑Hilal and other clubs backed by the same fund have received far more support in strengthening their squads.
Ronaldo, who has been with the Riyadh side since 2023 and remains under contract until at least 2027, appears to have taken this bold step to highlight his dissatisfaction — leaving fans and commentators debating what this could mean for both his future at the club and the team’s title ambitions.
