Senator Natasha Akpoti‑Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has formally submitted a legal response at the Supreme Court in Abuja, countering an appeal brought by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.
Filed by a senior legislative aide on her behalf, the counter‑affidavit challenges the Senate President’s move, urging the nation’s highest court to throw out the appeal. Her team argues that the case at the Court of Appeal had already completed hearings and was awaiting judgment, making the fresh appeal unnecessary and improper.
In the filing, the senator’s camp also asserts that procedural rules were observed during the earlier proceedings and that the Senate’s appeal lacks compelling legal merit. The move adds another chapter to an ongoing legal and political dispute between Akpoti‑Uduaghan and Senate leadership.
