Ogidi town in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State is reeling from shock and fear after gunmen attacked the community, killing the President-General, Chief Ikwuka Okoye, and another resident. The shooting occurred late Friday, sparking panic among locals and raising concerns over security in the area.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers opened fire in a public space, targeting the community leader. The motive for the attack remains unclear, though residents suspect it could be linked to escalating cult-related violence in the region.

In the aftermath, many residents have stayed indoors, fearful of further attacks. Community members have called on security agencies to step up patrols and provide protection to prevent additional bloodshed.

The Anambra State police confirmed the attack and stated that investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. Officers have been deployed to maintain order and gather information from witnesses.

Local leaders and authorities are urging residents to remain calm while promising intensified security measures to ensure the safety of the community and prevent similar incidents in the future.
