Authorities Nab Six for Unlawful Revenue Collection in Anambra

Six individuals have been arrested in Nnewi South, Anambra State, for collecting money from commercial transport operators without proper authorization, in violation of state regulations.

The arrests were carried out by the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service in the Oye Utuh area. The suspects were intercepted during the illegal activity and taken into custody.

Officials say the operation is part of ongoing efforts to enforce the ban on unauthorized cash collections from transport operators, aiming to protect workers and ensure proper revenue channels. Authorities have warned others involved in similar activities to stop or face prosecution.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s directives have emphasized strict action against illegal revenue collection, and the revenue service says it will continue crackdowns to uphold compliance.
