“2026 World Cup Ticket Hikes Ignite Fans’ Fury”

Ticket prices for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have sparked widespread anger after resale listings on FIFA’s official platform reached extremely high amounts, far exceeding their original cost. Some premium seats for the final match were listed for over $140,000, while even the lowest available tickets were priced near $10,000.

Supporters have criticized the steep resale prices, saying the system favors profit over genuine fans who want to attend the matches. A few lower-demand match tickets were actually cheaper than their initial purchase price, but these are exceptions.

FIFA’s official resale platform allows sellers to set their own prices, with the organization taking a fee for facilitating transactions. The governing body defends the system as consistent with general market practices for major sporting events.

The controversy adds to ongoing concerns from fan groups worldwide about accessibility and affordability for the expanded 48-team tournament.
