A prominent Nigerian businessman has rejected claims linking him to a high-profile online romance and investment fraud, calling the allegations unfounded and damaging to his reputation.

Henry Ikeji, chairman of a private group of companies and founder of a charity, responded to a report suggesting he and an associate posed as a member of Dubai’s royal family to gain trust and persuade a Romanian woman to transfer large sums of money.

In a statement, Ikeji described the claims as “100 per cent false” and insisted he has never been involved in fraud, romance scams, or impersonating royalty. He said the allegations have harmed his business ventures and personal relationships, and accused unnamed parties of orchestrating a campaign to undermine his credibility.

Ikeji also denied ever traveling to Dubai, challenged claims of personal ties to the woman mentioned, and said his travel records would confirm that. He suggested the accusations stem from a dispute with a former business associate and indicated that legal action may follow to address what he calls defamatory reporting.

Authorities are reportedly reviewing the case, but no formal criminal charges have been filed against Ikeji at this time.
