Governor Otti praised Abia athletes who have excelled in regional competitions and encouraged all participants to carry forward a spirit of determination and teamwork. He reaffirmed plans to improve sporting facilities, provide more opportunities for young athletes, and ensure that both male and female sports talents receive equal support.

Represented by his Acting Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Merebole, the governor highlighted the importance of sports in fostering personal growth, community pride, and healthy competition among the youth.

Several young athletes, including notable gymnasts and boxing champions from the state, were recognized for their achievements, with Otti urging them to inspire others through their dedication and success. Officials in the Abia sports sector lauded the governor’s commitment and emphasized the torch’s role in promoting regional cooperation and camaraderie ahead of the 2026 NDDC Games.
