The Nigeria Customs Service has emphasized the need for closer collaboration with military and security agencies to better secure the country’s borders, especially in the North‑East region.

During a recent engagement with the Operation HADIN KAI command, the Customs Area Controller for Borno and Yobe States highlighted the importance of joint efforts and technology-driven surveillance to monitor and control land and sea frontiers effectively.

The agency also acknowledged the army’s role in training and capacity-building initiatives for Customs personnel and stressed that coordinated strategies are essential to combat smuggling and other illegal cross-border activities.

Military commanders at the meeting echoed the sentiment, noting that unified action is critical, as no single agency can fully tackle the complex security challenges along Nigeria’s borders alone.
