The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has cautioned commercial drivers across the country against the use of illicit drugs and other intoxicating substances while operating vehicles.

According to the agency, taking drugs before or during trips can seriously affect a driver’s concentration and coordination, increasing the chances of road accidents and putting passengers in danger.

NDLEA officials explained that the warning forms part of their ongoing public awareness campaign aimed at discouraging substance abuse, particularly among people whose jobs require full alertness and responsibility.

The agency also appealed to transport unions and vehicle owners to monitor drivers closely and promote a culture of discipline and safety within motor parks and transport companies nationwide.
