The Women’s Rights Advocacy Coalition (WACOL) has formally petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, seeking urgent intervention over unpaid salaries owed to a retired female corporal from the 1998 police cohort. The organization described the delay as a violation of workers’ rights and called for immediate resolution.

In the petition, WACOL highlighted that the retired officer has faced prolonged financial hardship due to the withheld payments, despite years of service. The group urged the police leadership to address systemic issues that prevent retired female officers from receiving their entitlements promptly.

WACOL’s representatives emphasized the broader implications of such cases, warning that delays in honoring the rights of former officers undermine morale and could discourage women from pursuing careers in law enforcement. They stressed that fair treatment and timely payment are essential for upholding justice within the police system.

The organization concluded by requesting that the Inspector-General ensure the former corporal’s salaries are paid without further delay and called for measures to prevent similar incidents for other retired female personnel.
