The Lagos State Government has launched a fresh promotion exercise for civil servants in 2026, introducing measures aimed at improving workforce performance and accountability.

Unlike previous exercises, this year’s program emphasizes merit-based evaluation, combining performance reviews with competency assessments to identify staff ready for higher responsibilities. The initiative covers employees across all levels, from junior officers to senior management.

Government officials explained that the exercise is part of a larger plan to modernize the state’s public service, enhance efficiency, and ensure that hardworking staff are duly recognized. Civil servants have been encouraged to actively engage with the process and demonstrate their skills and achievements.

The move is expected to motivate employees, boost morale, and strengthen service delivery, reflecting the state’s commitment to professional growth and organizational excellence.
