Lagos State authorities recently held a training session for more than 70 community leaders in the Orile‑Agege area to boost local efforts against domestic and sexual violence.

The programme, organised by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, focused on helping community representatives recognise different types of abuse, spot early warning signs, and understand when and how to report cases.

Attendees, drawn from the Community Development Committee, were also given guidance on how to support survivors safely and work with the proper channels to ensure swift intervention when incidents occur.

The CDC Chairman, HAK Oderinde, urged participants not just to absorb the lessons but to share what they learned with others in their respective communities, strengthening the network of support and prevention at the grassroots level.

By equipping local leaders with this knowledge, Lagos aims to improve awareness and response to domestic and sexual violence and encourage safer and more supportive neighbourhoods.
