The Federal Government has launched the second phase of its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiative, inviting Nigerians to submit applications for fresh training opportunities aimed at boosting practical skills and employability.

The Ministry of Education announced that the application portal is now open, encouraging interested citizens to take advantage of the programme designed to equip participants with hands-on training in various trades and technical fields.

Officials explained that the TVET scheme is part of the government’s broader strategy to address unemployment by shifting focus from theory-based learning to industry-relevant skills that can support entrepreneurship and job creation.

According to the Ministry, the first phase of the programme recorded massive nationwide interest, with over a million applications received, reflecting strong demand for vocational education across the country.

The second phase will continue to offer fully funded training, with beneficiaries set to receive instruction in areas such as ICT, agriculture, construction, automotive repair, fashion design, renewable energy, and other technical disciplines.

Participants will also benefit from stipends, certification upon completion, and in some cases, startup support to help them establish small businesses or gain employment after training.

The government urged eligible Nigerians, regardless of age, to apply through the official portal and take advantage of the opportunity to acquire skills that can improve their economic prospects.

Officials added that expanding vocational education remains a key pillar of efforts to reduce unemployment and strengthen Nigeria’s workforce capacity.
