Nigerian security operatives have reportedly stepped up surveillance and defensive measures following intelligence indicating a possible coordinated attack on critical infrastructure in the Federal Capital Territory.

According to internal security communications, operatives were alerted to a developing threat involving extremist groups believed to be planning assaults on key locations, including the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. The warning suggested that the attackers may be aiming to damage aviation facilities and potentially free detained fighters from custody.

The intelligence further pointed to the involvement of insurgent factions such as Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), with indications that sleeper cells could be mobilized to execute the operation. Security personnel across agencies have consequently been placed on high alert to prevent any breach.

Authorities are said to be drawing parallels between the suspected plot and previous attacks on similar infrastructure in the region, raising concerns about attempts to replicate such incidents within Nigeria. Past prison breaks and coordinated assaults have underscored the potential scale of such threats.

While there has been no official confirmation of an imminent attack, security forces are reportedly intensifying patrols, intelligence gathering, and inter-agency coordination to neutralize any risks.

The development comes amid ongoing security challenges in parts of the country, where insurgent activities and coordinated attacks have remained a persistent concern for authorities.
