The Delta State Government has taken fresh steps to accelerate the ongoing rehabilitation of the Warri Township Stadium following concerns over the slow pace of work at the project site.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, during a recent inspection, expressed disappointment that the facility had not reached expected completion levels despite repeated assurances from the contractors handling the job.
He stressed that the project is a key sporting investment for the state and must reflect quality, durability, and timely delivery. The governor noted that public funds had been committed to ensure the stadium meets international standards and should not fall short of expectations.
Following the inspection, the state government indicated that measures would be put in place to ensure stricter supervision of the project, including closer monitoring of contractors to prevent further delays.
Officials also reiterated the administration’s commitment to completing the stadium as part of efforts to boost sports development and provide a modern facility for athletes and sporting events in the state.
