One of Nigeria’s oldest cricket organisations, Foundation Cricket Club (FCC), has marked its 40th anniversary with a celebration highlighting its long-standing contribution to the development of the sport in the country.
The event, held at the Tafawa Balewa Cricket Oval in Lagos, brought together current and former members, sports officials, and guests to reflect on the club’s journey since its establishment in the mid-1980s.
Over the years, the club has played a key role in promoting cricket at both grassroots and competitive levels, producing players who have gone on to represent Nigeria and contribute to the administration of the game nationwide.
As part of the anniversary activities, the club unveiled a commemorative publication documenting its history, achievements, and impact on Nigerian cricket. Awards were also presented to individuals and institutions recognised for their contributions to the growth of the sport.
Speakers at the ceremony praised the founders and members for their dedication, noting that the club’s influence extends beyond competition to include youth development and the expansion of cricket infrastructure in schools and communities.
The celebration was described as a milestone moment that not only honoured past achievements but also reinforced the club’s commitment to the future of cricket in Nigeria.
