Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to collaborate with members of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) to drive the state’s development.
Speaking on Tuesday, April 14, at the Government House in Umuahia while receiving a delegation of the institution led by its President and Chairman of Council, ESV Chief Victor Adekunle Alonge, Governor Otti emphasized the importance of working with professional bodies that share the government’s vision for progress.
He noted that his administration already enjoys a productive relationship with estate surveyors in the state and is committed to strengthening that partnership.
“We see ourselves as partners with institutions and individuals who share our aspiration for a better Abia. We have worked closely with your members, and we intend to deepen that collaboration,” the governor said.
He added that ongoing and upcoming real estate initiatives in the state would require the active involvement of the institution, describing the moment as an opportunity to build stronger ties.
Governor Otti also commended the institution for choosing Abia State as the host of its 2026 annual conference and assured members of full government support throughout their stay. He directed relevant commissioners to work closely with the association to ensure a successful event.
Reiterating his commitment to improving infrastructure, the governor disclosed plans to establish a five-star hotel in Umuahia to enhance accommodation for visitors and conference attendees. He wished the participants fruitful deliberations.
Earlier, Chief Alonge said the delegation was in the state for the institution’s 2026 annual conference, themed “Corridors, Connectivity and Capital: Rethinking Real Estate Development Along Renewed Hope Infrastructure Investments,” scheduled to hold from April 13 to 18 at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia.
He described the event as historic, noting that it is the first time Abia State is hosting the conference, and expressed satisfaction with the state’s progress under Governor Otti.
Alonge also appreciated the governor for his financial and logistical support, as well as the cordial working relationship between the state government and members of the profession.
He assured that the institution would continue to provide professional services in line with global best practices, highlighting their contributions to policy formulation, land administration, asset management, housing, and project development in the state.
According to him, the governor’s reform-driven policies have attracted both local and foreign investments, significantly boosting Abia’s economy.
The Deputy Governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, alongside commissioners and other top government officials, were present during the visit.
