Security operatives in Anambra State have apprehended an individual accused of impersonating an official of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), in what authorities describe as a growing trend of examination-related fraud.
According to reports, the suspect allegedly posed as a coordinator for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), deceiving candidates and their families with promises of assistance in securing favourable results. During the arrest, law enforcement agents recovered several examination slips believed to have been used in the scheme.
Investigators say the operation is part of a broader effort to clamp down on fraudsters exploiting students during the admission process. Officials warned candidates to be wary of individuals offering shortcuts or guaranteed success, stressing that such claims are often scams.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the examination system while urging the public to report suspicious activities. The arrest highlights ongoing concerns about the activities of syndicates targeting desperate applicants seeking admission into tertiary institutions.
