The people of Aba La Ohazu, comprising Aba North and Aba South Local Government Areas, have unanimously declared their support for Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, endorsing him for a second term in office.
The endorsement was made on Sunday, April 19, during a “Thank You” and solidarity visit to the Governor at his office. The delegation, led by the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ihuoma Emeruwa, included key stakeholders, traditional rulers, women groups, and youth representatives from across the communities in Aba North and South.
Speaking on behalf of the political class, prominent figures including Elder Chima Mbama, popularly known as “Oshemhole of Aba,” Chief Charles Nwanyanwu, and Dr. Mrs. Chidinma Nwogu, praised Governor Otti’s developmental strides in Aba. They highlighted major infrastructure improvements, particularly the rehabilitation of Ohanku Road, Port Harcourt Road, and several others, describing Otti as their sole candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
Elder Mbama commended the Governor for transforming Aba into a cleaner and more organized city through effective environmental policies, noting that his governance has set a high standard difficult for any opposition to match. He confidently stated that Aba North and South would play a decisive role in securing Otti’s victory in 2027.
Traditional rulers also voiced their support, with Eze Love Nwogu of Aba North and Eze Njoku of Aba South applauding the administration’s infrastructural achievements and economic impact. They pointed to ongoing solutions to gully erosion challenges in areas like Ovom and Ogbor Hill, as well as progress on the Enyimba Radisson Hotel project, as clear evidence of the Governor’s commitment to Aba’s growth.
Eze Nwogu emphasized that the Governor’s actions reflect genuine concern for the people and pledged full mobilization to ensure his re-election, declaring the 2027 race as effectively unopposed.
Earlier, Speaker Emeruwa introduced the delegation, stating that they represented all villages within Aba La Ohazu and had come with a unified message of support. He assured the Governor that any doubts about their loyalty should be laid to rest, adding that many had already joined the Labour Party through its ongoing online registration.
In his response, Governor Otti expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, recalling his consistent electoral victories in Aba since 2015. He reiterated that his decision to run for office was driven by a commitment to rebuild Aba.
The Governor assured residents that work on Omuma Road would soon resume fully, while Uratta Road and the Old Express Road would be addressed under the ABSIID project, with funding arrangements already nearing completion. He also urged citizens, especially young people turning 18, to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate actively in the Labour Party registration process.
Delivering a vote of thanks, the Mayor of Aba South, Chief Obialor Anyanwu, appreciated the Governor’s openness and impactful leadership, noting that Aba has greatly benefited from his administration. He reaffirmed the people’s commitment to mobilize widespread support for Otti’s re-election in 2027.
The meeting was attended by top government officials, political leaders, traditional rulers, and community representatives, reflecting a broad-based endorsement from across Aba La Ohazu.
