Tensions surrounding the internal leadership of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) are expected to take center stage as more than 200 delegates are scheduled to gather in Abuja on Wednesday for a key national meeting.

The assembly, drawn from various state chapters across the country, is part of ongoing efforts to address pressing organisational matters and strengthen unity within the medical body. However, it is also coming at a time when concerns over internal disagreements and governance processes within the association have drawn attention from members.

Sources within the association say the meeting will provide a platform for discussions on leadership direction, constitutional issues, and the smooth conduct of future electoral processes. The outcome is expected to shape the stability and future administration of the NMA at the national level.

While officials maintain that the association remains united and focused on professional development and welfare of members, some stakeholders have continued to express concerns over disagreements that have emerged in recent months.

The Abuja gathering is therefore seen as a decisive moment for the association as it works to resolve internal disputes and reinforce confidence in its leadership structure.
