The lawmaker representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Obi Aguocha, has responded to remarks made by fellow politician Chinedum Orji, brushing them aside as attempts to gain attention.
Aguocha suggested that Orji’s repeated references to his name are driven by a desire to remain in the public conversation. He argued that the criticisms directed at his work reflect a lack of understanding of governance and commitment to public service.
Reflecting on past leadership in the state, Aguocha accused previous officeholders of failing to deliver meaningful progress, noting that residents have not forgotten what he described as years of underperformance.
He maintained that he would not be drawn into a back-and-forth with Orji, pointing out that the latter is still seeking his party’s nomination and has not yet secured a place on the ballot. Aguocha added that several strong contenders are also vying for the same ticket within Orji’s party.
The federal lawmaker concluded that engaging in a dispute at this stage would be premature, emphasizing that his priority remains serving his constituents rather than responding to political distractions.
