The South-West chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed reports of internal division, describing them as false, malicious, and intended to mislead the public.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the party’s Zonal Chairman, Hon. Akinbowale Omole, said the ADC in the region remains united and fully aligned with its national leadership.

Omole expressed concern over media reports alleging a rift within the zone, insisting they were fabricated to create an impression of disunity.

“We read with dismay reports in some media outlets claiming there is division in the South-West zone of the ADC,” the statement said. “These claims are completely false and designed to portray our party as fragmented.”

He stressed that the party is stable both in the South-West and across the country, under the leadership of National Chairman, Senator David Mark, and National Secretary, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

According to him, the ADC has become a target of anti-democratic forces seeking to weaken its structure, but the party remains steadfast.

“We are aware of attempts to undermine our party, but we remain resolute. We are confident of victory, and when we succeed, Nigeria will benefit through renewed prosperity and peace,” he added.

Omole also addressed the issue of individuals allegedly forming a parallel leadership in the zone, describing their actions as unauthorized and contrary to party directives.

He explained that when the group attempted to appoint themselves into leadership positions on January 31, 2026, the national secretariat quickly issued a disclaimer through the National Publicity Secretary, instructing them to desist.

Despite the directive, the individuals went ahead to declare themselves as the South-West executive. However, Omole noted that the legitimate leadership emerged through a proper process.

He said a stakeholders’ meeting involving members from across the South-West was held on February 10, 2026, where nominations were made and adopted. These nominations were later approved by the National Caucus on March 7, 2026, and endorsed by the National Chairman.

“The current South-West Executive was constituted in line with the party’s constitution and due process,” he said.

Omole reiterated that the ADC in the South-West remains one united family, firmly committed to the vision and leadership of the national body.
