NNPC Limited, has reported a significant rise in crude oil production, reaching its highest level in several years as upstream operations continue to recover.
Recent operational data shows that output has improved steadily, supported by better performance from key oil fields and the completion of maintenance activities that previously slowed production. The increase reflects ongoing efforts to stabilise Nigeria’s oil sector after years of fluctuations caused by theft, pipeline disruptions, and technical setbacks.
Officials say the boost in production is part of a broader recovery trend, with daily output now averaging above earlier figures recorded in previous months. The improvement has also been linked to enhanced efficiency in offshore and joint venture operations.
Alongside crude oil, associated gas production has also risen, signalling a more stable upstream environment. Industry observers note that the gains could strengthen government revenue if sustained, especially as Nigeria continues to depend heavily on oil exports for foreign exchange earnings.
Despite the positive figures, challenges such as infrastructure limitations, security issues in oil-producing regions, and distribution constraints still pose risks to consistent growth. Authorities say efforts are ongoing to maintain momentum and push production even higher in the coming months.
