The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has directed that the practice of holding multiple combined graduation ceremonies at Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) be discontinued.
The announcement was made during the institution’s combined convocation ceremony held at the Ikot Akpaden campus, where several graduating sets were being honoured at once.
Governor Eno stated that the university will no longer group several academic sessions into a single convocation exercise. Instead, he instructed the school authorities to ensure that graduation ceremonies are conducted regularly and on time for each set of students.
He described the previous arrangement as inconvenient and urged the management of the institution to adopt a more structured academic calendar that allows graduands to celebrate their achievements without delay.
The governor emphasized that timely convocations reflect proper academic administration and help maintain the credibility of the university system.
University officials are expected to adjust their planning to comply with the new directive moving forward.
