The Nigerian Army has recorded another major breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on crude oil theft, recovering petroleum products valued at about ₦250 million during coordinated operations across the Niger Delta region.

Troops of the 6 Division carried out the multi-state operation over a period of several weeks, targeting illegal refining hubs and oil bunkering networks that have long fueled economic sabotage in the region.

During the exercise, security forces dismantled several illegal refining sites and seized large quantities of stolen crude oil and illegally processed diesel. Authorities also confirmed that multiple suspects were arrested in connection with the illicit activities.

According to military officials, the operation covered key hotspots in the region where illegal oil operations are most prevalent, with troops also destroying equipment used in refining and storage.

The Army described the operation as part of sustained efforts to protect national assets, reduce revenue losses, and curb environmental damage caused by illegal refining activities in oil-producing communities.

Officials added that similar operations will continue as part of broader security measures aimed at restoring order in the Niger Delta and safeguarding critical energy infrastructure.
