Legal Practitioners Move to End Challenge Over Kalu’s Certificate

A group of legal practitioners has called on the relevant disciplinary authorities to dismiss a petition questioning the authenticity of the law credentials of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu.

The lawyers argued that the complaint, which borders on allegations concerning his admission and certification process, lacks merit and does not establish any wrongdoing that would warrant investigation or disciplinary action.

They maintained that the issues raised in the petition fall outside the jurisdiction of the regulatory body handling the matter, insisting that it is procedurally flawed and legally unsustainable.

According to them, Kalu’s call to the Bar and subsequent enrolment as a legal practitioner followed due process, and no competent authority has ever invalidated his professional status.

The group further urged the council to disregard the petition entirely, describing it as baseless and incapable of standing under legal scrutiny.

The controversy surrounding the Deputy Speaker’s academic and professional records has continued to generate debate in public space, although no official body has found him culpable of any wrongdoing so far.
