Sanwo-Olu Hails APC’s Sweeping LG Poll Win as Mandate for Grassroots Development

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has hailed the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s dominant performance in Saturday’s local government elections as a shared victory for all residents of the state. He said the results reflect the public’s confidence in the party’s leadership and its developmental agenda at the grassroots level.

According to earlier reports by PUNCH Online, the APC secured all 57 chairmanship seats and won 375 out of 376 councillorship positions across the state. In a statement released on Sunday, Sanwo-Olu congratulated party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters, describing the outcome as a “resounding victory” in all Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

He emphasized that the outcome is a strong endorsement of the APC’s vision and its consistent efforts to deliver inclusive governance at the grassroots. While congratulating the newly elected chairmen and councillors, the governor reminded them that the mandate comes with serious responsibility. “This victory is not the destination but the beginning of a duty-bound journey to deliver quality, transparent, and people-oriented governance,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu urged the winners to serve with humility and accountability, prioritizing the needs of all residents regardless of political affiliation. He also praised aspirants who lost in the primaries, recognizing their courage and dedication, and called on them to remain loyal to the party and continue working towards unity.

The governor further commended the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for organizing what he described as a peaceful and credible election. He also appreciated the role of security agencies in maintaining peace. Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to grassroots development, Sanwo-Olu promised to work hand-in-hand with the newly elected officials to ensure that no community is left behind in the vision for a “Greater Lagos.”
