Former Imo State Governor, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, has called on Northern political leaders to unite behind former Anambra Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, as a consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
During a recent high-level political gathering in Abuja, Ihedioha praised Obi’s character and leadership qualities, describing him as “charismatic, humble, and deeply admired across the country.” He emphasized that Obi embodies the kind of visionary leadership needed to rebuild and reposition Nigeria.
“Peter Obi isn’t just a popular figure; he is a leader with integrity, intellect, and compassion — the kind of qualities required to address Nigeria’s complex challenges,” Ihedioha said. He also highlighted Obi’s pledge to serve only one term, assuring Nigerians that he would keep that commitment.
Ihedioha argued that Obi’s candidacy should not be seen merely as a political alliance to unseat the ruling party, but as a credible alternative based on sound ideas, strategy, and a commitment to national renewal. He urged Northern leaders to prioritize unity and the collective good over ethnic or partisan interests.
Criticizing those who support or enable poor leadership, Ihedioha warned that political indifference, tribalism, and blind loyalty only deepen Nigeria’s crisis. Calling Obi a “nightmare to the APC,” he said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has a rare opportunity to provide the transformative leadership Nigerians yearn for.
