The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has refuted claims that its local government chairmen in Katsina State have defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) or any other political party.
In a statement released in Katsina on Monday, the NNPP State Chairman, Alhaji Armaya’u Abdulkadir, clarified that none of the party’s 34 local government chairmen had left the party. He dismissed recent media reports and social media posts suggesting otherwise.
“Our attention has been drawn to reports in some media outlets and social media platforms alleging that 34 NNPP LG chairmen have defected to the ADC,” Abdulkadir stated. “The report also claimed the defection was facilitated by former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Mustapha Inuwa.”
He explained that while a few chairmen had indeed left the party following the 2023 presidential election, they had already joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) at that time.
Abdulkadir emphasized that those now aligning with the ADC had made the move from the APC—not from the NNPP—making the recent claims inaccurate and misleading.
