The Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC) has officially mobilized the contractor for the restoration of electricity in Ukwa West Local Government Area, in line with the directive of Governor Dr. Alex Otti.
During a formal ceremony held at the palace of HRH Eze Chinyere Dike, Chairman of the Ukwa West Traditional Rulers Council, ASOPADEC General Manager, Dr. Joshua Onyeike, introduced the contractor, Engr. Chuks Iroeche of City Global Services, to traditional rulers and stakeholders.
Dr. Onyeike described the project as a fulfilment of Governor Otti’s commitment to improving the lives of the Asa people, emphasizing that the restoration of electricity reflects the governor’s deep concern for the welfare of Ukwa West residents.
He called for full cooperation from the community to ensure the successful execution of the project, urging residents to safeguard installations and resist acts of vandalism or sabotage that could hinder progress.
In appreciation, Eze Chinyere Dike thanked Governor Otti for keeping his promise and praised Dr. Onyeike’s developmental strides, including the construction of the Asa Civic Centre, school block renovations, market stall upgrades, water borehole projects, and scholarship programs. He pledged the full support of traditional leaders for the contractor.
Other community leaders—including Ambassador Lucky Elogu, Elder Chibuike Alozie, and Innocent Chiuwa—commended ASOPADEC’s proactive approach in involving local stakeholders. They also assured the contractor of their full backing and encouraged him to reach out to them should any challenges arise.
Engr. Chuks Iroeche, Managing Director of City Global Services, acknowledged the logistical challenges facing Asa’s electricity infrastructure. He revealed that the project will cover 31 communities, with new transformers to be installed where needed. He promised to deliver quality work that meets expectations.
