The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Mr. Hyacinth Dajoh, has firmly declared that no intruder will succeed in taking over the state’s ancestral lands. He made this known during a visit to the displaced residents of Yelwata, currently sheltered at the Ultra-Modern International Market in Makurdi, on Tuesday.
During the visit, Dajoh donated various relief materials to the victims of the recent attacks. He reaffirmed that the land belonged to the people by divine right and pledged unwavering protection of it. The Speaker added that anyone who fails to genuinely serve the displaced persons will be met with misfortune after leaving office, while those who serve faithfully will be rewarded with lasting goodwill.
“If you provide honest service to the displaced, good fortune will follow you. But if you cheat them, misfortune will trail you even after your tenure,” he warned.
In response, Mr. Peter Uche (APC/Guma I), urged the Speaker to fulfill his promise of helping the displaced return to their homes. Also speaking, Mr. Iorpuu expressed gratitude to the United Nations, charitable individuals, and churches for their consistent support. He stressed that his agency ensures proper distribution of donated items and remains committed to serving with dedication and compassion.
Iorpuu further called on relevant bodies to intensify efforts to end the ongoing invasions of communities across Benue State.
