The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially announced that its national elective convention will now take place in November 2025, with Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, as the new venue.
The convention, earlier slated for August and initially planned to hold in Kano State, was rescheduled to November. The development was confirmed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, during the party’s 101st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Thursday.
Speaking at the meeting, the Acting National Chairman of the party, Umar Iliya Damagum, revealed that several members who had earlier joined a political coalition have started returning to the PDP fold. According to him, many of them acknowledged they never truly left the party but only attended a few coalition meetings.
Damagum described the coalition as a failed political experiment and reaffirmed the PDP’s readiness to reclaim power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He emphasized that the PDP remains the only party with the structure, national appeal, and legacy to effectively govern Nigeria.
