2027: Atiku Vows to Send Tinubu Back to Bourdillon or Iragbiji

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has vowed to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, declaring that Tinubu will be sent “back to Bourdillon or Iragbiji.”

Bourdillon, located in Lagos’ highbrow Ikoyi district, is Tinubu’s well-known private residence, while Iragbiji is his ancestral hometown in Osun State.

Atiku’s warning came in a strongly worded statement issued Thursday night by his media adviser, Paul Ibe, in response to remarks Tinubu allegedly made against the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition platform.

“Tinubu fears the coalition. He knows it’s the coalition that will send him packing — either back to Bourdillon or Iragbiji,” Atiku declared.

The former Vice President accused Tinubu of misusing state institutions, particularly anti-graft agencies, to intimidate opposition figures and coerce them into joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“At the 14th APC meeting today, President Bola Tinubu again took a swipe at the ADC coalition. Attacking the opposition has become his pastime, even as the country crumbles under his leadership,” the statement said.

Atiku alleged that Tinubu is overwhelmed by internal challenges, including a rift with Vice President Kashim Shettima and a floundering economy, yet chooses to distract himself by targeting the opposition.

He further accused the presidency of sponsoring internal divisions within opposition parties to weaken them.

“We are aware that the so-called tensions between Atiku and Peter Obi supporters were manufactured by the presidency. Unfortunately for them, the coalition has overcome these tactics and emerged stronger,” the statement noted.

Atiku criticised Tinubu’s governance, describing the APC administration as “directionless, incompetent, and disconnected” from the everyday struggles of Nigerians.

“More than halfway into his disputed mandate, Tinubu remains preoccupied with petty politics and a premature 2027 re-election bid, instead of addressing the real issues of insecurity, hunger, and poverty,” he added.

He concluded by warning that Tinubu’s ultimate goal is to eliminate opposition voices and transform Nigeria into a one-party state.
