The Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has issued 28 operational licences to Chief Executive Officers of private security guard companies.

In a statement released by CSC Afolabi Babawale, the National Public Relations Officer of NSCDC, Audi emphasized that ensuring effective security across Nigeria requires collective effort and proactive intelligence gathering.

Represented by Deputy Commandant-General of Technical Services, Zakari Ibrahim Ningi, Audi handed over the licences to the newly registered private security firms during an event held at the NSCDC National Headquarters, Abuja.

“We recognize that many of the CEOs of these security companies are ex-service men with valuable experience that can generate credible intelligence to strengthen security. You are therefore urged to maintain high standards of professionalism and integrity to help build a safe, investor-friendly nation,” Audi stated.

He further noted that while the licences are issued for business purposes, they also serve as an avenue for companies to contribute to national security. He warned that future licence renewals and engagements with the NSCDC will depend on compliance with regulatory standards and overall performance.

Audi also revealed that the issuance of the licences coincides with the introduction of a unified training curriculum designed to standardize guard training across all regions of the country.
