The Abia State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Barr. (Mrs.) Gladys Adama, has called on staff of the scheme to serve as role models and mentors to corps members during the forthcoming 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 orientation course.

Speaking during a pre-camp meeting held on Friday, July 25, at the NYSC Secretariat on Finbarrs Road, Umuahia, Adama emphasized the importance of emotional intelligence in staff conduct. She cautioned against corporal punishment, extortion, and any form of harsh treatment, urging instead that corps members be treated with maturity, patience, and kindness—even in challenging situations.

Adama also underscored the importance of teamwork and collaboration among staff and partnering agencies, noting that the success of the orientation camp depends on collective effort. “The success of the camp is for all of us,” she said. “If you see a gap, fill it. Let us support one another.”

Echoing her remarks, Camp Director Mrs. Azuike Hulda encouraged staff to work in unity and maintain a cohesive spirit throughout the course. “We have been doing the work please let us continue with one spirit,” she urged.

The meeting was part of preparations to ensure a hitch-free and impactful orientation exercise for incoming corps members.
