The Federal Government has sent armoured personnel carriers (APCs) to Kebbi State as part of efforts to bolster security and tackle the persistent threat of banditry in the region.

Governor Nasir Idris revealed this development during an inspection of the military vehicles at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi. He explained that the state has been under repeated attacks by bandits infiltrating from neighboring Zamfara and Niger States, who carry out assaults before retreating to their hideouts.

Governor Idris expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, the Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, and other top security officials for their swift intervention. He emphasized that the deployment of the APCs would help safeguard lives and property across the state.

He further assured that his administration would continue to support the families of fallen soldiers who lost their lives in the fight against banditry.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel M. S. Saleh, Commander of the 223 Light Tank Battalion in Zuru, formally handed over the combat vehicles to the governor. He commended both the federal and state governments for their support and urged citizens to cooperate with security agencies by sharing credible intelligence to locate and dismantle terrorist hideouts.
