The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has withdrawn the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results, citing the discovery of technical glitches.

In an official statement issued Thursday by Moyosola Adesina, Acting Head of Public Affairs for WAEC Nigeria, the examination body confirmed that it had initiated an urgent review of the results released earlier this week.

According to the statement, the review became necessary after internal checks revealed bugs that affected the serialization of key subjects, including Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics.

“As part of this process, access to the online result-checking portal has been temporarily suspended,” Adesina said. “Candidates who have already checked their results are advised to recheck them after 24 hours, beginning Thursday, August 7.”

The announcement follows WAEC’s earlier disclosure on Wednesday regarding the temporary shutdown of its result-checking platform due to technical issues. Adesina assured candidates and stakeholders that the matter is being addressed and will be resolved swiftly.

WAEC apologized for the inconvenience caused and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the examination process.

More than 1.9 million students across over 23,000 schools in Nigeria sat for the May/June 2025 WASSCE, whose results were originally released on Monday, August 4.
