GADA Reaffirms Rule of Law in Enforcement at Enyimba TV and Radio Station

The Greater Aba Development Authority (GADA) has restated its commitment to due process and the rule of law following an enforcement operation at an illegal building within the premises of Enyimba TV and Radio Station.

In a statement issued by its Head of Information Unit/PRO, Chibuzo Amaechi, GADA explained that the property was sealed in 2024 for violating building regulations. A subsequent court injunction directed all parties to maintain the status quo, which GADA said it fully complied with by staying away from the site for three months.

According to the statement, the property owner allegedly broke the seal without a court order and resumed construction, defying the injunction. GADA said it was never served with any legal document permitting work to continue.

Describing the move as contempt of court, GADA reported the matter to the Nigerian Police Force. On August 12, 2025, police officers visited the site to enforce the law. The operation, the agency stressed, was carried out peacefully with no incidents of assault, harassment, or arrest.

Reaffirming that the enforcement was not a witch-hunt, GADA maintained that its sole aim is to safeguard public interest by ensuring compliance with legal standards, noting that “nobody is above the law.”
